Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. -Mason Cooley
Happy Weekend, friends! One of my favorite things about summer is the gift of time. During the school year I teach reading and writing, so naturally I do a lot of reading and writing.
In the summer I read too, but I read for me. And the quote above says it so perfectly. Even though I may not always be traveling or vacationing all summer long, I go ‘someplace’ when I read. This is a feeling I want my students to connect to as well. Even though we may have to stay in our classroom, reading gives us ‘someplace’ to go.
So today, I’m sharing the covers of a few of my recent (the past year and half) reads. Some of these I’ve read over the past few summers. Some of these books I read when I could find time for adult reading during the school year. And some of these books are ‘teacher-reads’ too.
I hope some of these ‘someplaces’ might find their way into your life and if you have any summer book recommendations, I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks, Jen! Perfect timing! We leave for the coast Monday!

Oh thanks! I need to add a few new ones to my list. Writing those titles down. Where are you vacationing? The ‘coast’ sounds fun and beachy!

No vacation for us this year, womp womp (unless you count trips to the lake!). Buying a house is expensive!
