Floating Bar Shelves

Cheers to the weekend! And a long, patriotic, holiday one at that.

One of my favorite pieces of furniture that Greg brought into our marriage is his bar. Believe it or not, its a Craigslist find and a good one at that.

After I chalk painted the dining room table and china cabinet, we continued to look for a way to blend the bar and our two design styles into this one room.

I had found a picture on Pinterest of wood floating shelves built by Shanty 2 Chic. If you do not follow these ladies you should check out all the cool stuff they build!

Now, I love DIY and the hubs really loved the idea of bar shelves, but we needed some guidance on building our own. So Greg and our friend Jason, mentioned in my post about DIY Cornhole boards, built our floating shelves.

We chose a wood stain called Espresso to finish off the shelves.

Here is a picture of the shelves after staining. I love them!

And finally, here is the room put back together with some of the hubs’ bar ware displayed on our floating shelves. The wood, silver and chalk paint really blend well in the room now. To fill the space on the top shelf, and give the room some height, we plan to frame a black and white photo from our trip abroad last summer.

We are so excited about our floating shelves. Happy 4th of July weekend, sweet friends!
