30 for 30: Planning a Manly Bday

If by “30” you mean “more awesome”, then yes I am about to turn 30. -Anonymous

This has been the year of the 30th birthday.

So I’m sharing my take on a ‘man-ly’ 30th birthday that I threw for the hubs’ last month.

Invite: The theme was 30 for 30, after the ESPN Film Series on ESPN. And thanks to my super talented friend, Sarah, the invite turned out cute as can be! I used Paperless Post to invite guests.

Decor: I posted some pictures of the hubs over the years (most I tried to keep sports-related). These hung from our mantel and in the dining room.

Food: We ordered food from one of his favorite Mexican restaurants, Fresco’s. We served chicken fajitas. Easy and delicious! Usually I would cook for a party, and I did make some appetizers, but ordering the food from a local restaurant takes the pressure off the hostess and makes for easy-peasy clean-up! Tortilla chips in beer boxes were a fun touch. (Big thank you to my parents who helped me collect these leading up to the party!)

Cake: My mother-in-law did a great job ordering the cutest cake, too. We had 3-0 candles. (Not pictured – too much fun partying to get one!)

Favors: In keeping with the throw-back/sports theme, guests could choose either Cracker Jacks or Big League Chew as their take-home treat.

Surprises: And of course, a party isn’t a party without some surprises, right?! We had Victor E. Green, the Dallas Stars mascot, show up for party pics in the backyard. The hubs and the party guests were so shocked! We also had corn hole and washers available for guests to play.

Summer is all about spending time outdoors with family & friends. Celebrating Greg’s 30th was extra special because of the family & friends that celebrated with us! Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Hope a few of these ideas can inspire your next party!
