The “Winter” Wife — Christmas 2017

Hey there, sweet #summerwife readers!

Happy New Year! As you know #teacherwife doesn’t have quite as much time as #summerwife for blogging and all things DIY, but I still wanted to say hello and share my holiday home decor (even if it is after Christmas). Maybe, you can get some ideas and bookmark them for next year!

This December was a little different from past Decembers because the hubs was still covering Texas high school football until December 23rd. I worked up until noon on December 22nd, so we tried to squeeze in some holiday dates here and there. We always try to do at least one holiday date night each year. In the past we have seen “White Christmas” at the old-timey Grapevine movie theater, have seen both Elf and Christmas Vacation at Alamo Drafthouse’s quote-a-long (so fun if you never been, we highly recommend this!), but this year we went to Christmas Pops with the DSO (Dallas Symphony Orchestra). We had dinner at St. Ann’s before the show — a fun, holiday evening!! The concert was incredible! Another highly recommended Dallas holiday outing from the Teppers!

We spent Christmas in Texas this year due to our work schedules and it was a fun, Texan Christmas! It was also nice to spend a little time Christmas morning, just the two of us, in our home. We LOVE our families and spending the holidays with them, but this was a sweet way for us to start some Christmas morning traditions of our own.

We did host Christmas Eve with the hubs’ family. They have enchiladas and margaritas — a real Texan meal and it is oh, so good! Christmas Day we visited my in-laws and facetimed with my family in STL.

Here are a few pics from our holiday home decor in 2017. Decorating for the holidays might be one of my favorite times of the year to decorate — maybe its the magic of the season, the Christmas lights, and the sweet smell of pine, or maybe its that so many little pieces of our Christmas decor have stories with them from both of our families. So, I hope these pictures inspire you (even if maybe you bookmark it for next year!) And, I hope you had the happiest of holidays!

May 2018 bring you much joy, peace & hope in the new year.
