Planning a SUPER Super Bowl Party!

For the past five or so years we have been hosting an annual Super Bowl Party, also known as “Tepper Bowl”.

It is one of our favorite days of the year!

We love football – college and pro – and love celebrating and spending time with friends and family. (Oh, and we love the food!)

So, if you’re getting ready to host the BIG game this year (February 4th, 2018), here are some ideas to make your event SUPER.

Food: We all know the food is one of the main staples at any tailgate. We ask our guests to bring something shareable; a dip, dessert, smaller snacks. We provide the main course. We have done sub sandwiches, chicken fingers (a BIG hit) and a hot dog bar. We will cook our doggies in the crock pot and guests will have a variety of toppings to choose from to dress their dog. We even through a bunch of koozies in a decorative bowl as a table centerpieces — easy and game day appropriate!

Decor: Decorating for any event is a must for our house. I have a football door hanger that we put up for game day. Other cute ideas I’ve tried include: tying the opposing teams colors on decorative branches in a jar/vase on the mantel, positioning footballs (we have plenty around our house) on the mantel/food table, using our chalkboard banner to spell out Super Bowl. (Greg, always separates the letters to read ‘Superb-owl’…so just beware of your party guests that might try something funny!)


The Game: We invite guests over around 4:30 to enjoy some of the pre-game festivities that are televised (Yes, this includes my favorite ‘The Puppy Bowl’). We also play Squares and have Prop Bet Sheets for those who want to place a friendly wager on the game. There are even some Super Bowl commercial bingo sets that I’ve found on Pinterest, too, if you’re a ‘I watch it more for the commericals kind of viewer’.

Have fun (as the host): One of the best reasons to host a Super Bowl Party is it is very easy set-up and clean-up. We always have our guests bring other snacks, dips, desserts and drinks to share, and by the end of the night most tasty treats have either been eaten or head home with the person that brought them. Add in some festive football plates and plastic silverware for this occasion and clean up is quick & simple … so nice, especially when you know your alarm is set for work the next morning!
