Welcome to the blog, The Summer Wife! My name is Jen. I’m a 30-something Midwest girl, living and loving life in Texas. I am an elementary teacher, wife and mom-to-be. I also love DIY projects & home decor.
Where, you might ask, did “The Summer Wife” come from? Years ago a co-worker mentioned her husband would call her “summer wife” when she was on summer break. I mentioned the nickname to my husband and family and now each June I become “The Summer Wife”.
As The Summer Wife I have time on sunny afternoons to explore my passions beyond the elementary classroom. I decorate, complete DIY projects, read, travel, try new recipes and even keep the house tidy!
Summer Wife is a little more sun-kissed and a little less stressed than “school year wife” and I look forward to this time of renewal each summer.
This summer I’m continuing one of my favorite hobbies… blogging! I would love to share my love of decor with you. And maybe I can bring a little summer sunshine into your home!

Hey this is a weird question, or statement I guess, but my maiden name was Tepper!! I’m from Missouri, not to many of us so I was wondering if there was a connection!

Andrea, that is too funny! 🙂 My maiden name was O’Neil (from St. Louis) and my husband’s family is from Texas, so probably no relation. But I am loving having the name Tepper now!
